When I was a teenager, I developed a very bad relationship with food and fitness.

Under-fueling and over-exercising eventually led to severe gut and hormone imbalances. It took me YEARS to learn how to reverse these issues. I created Fuel & Heal because I want to show people how to use nutrition and fitness to heal their chronic symptoms, achieve their goals, AND feel the happiest and healthiest they've ever felt.

MY STORY

MY STORY ☼

I decided that I wanted to become a dietitian while I had an eating disorder.

I knew that my behaviors were unhealthy, but I was horrified to gain weight. I thought, "Maybe if I become a dietitian then I can learn how to fix myself". I began my studies and sought professional guidance from two functional sports dietitians as well as a personal trainer. With lots of education and trust, I started eating more food and swapped cardio for strength training. Week by week I watched myself gain knowledge, muscle, strength (physical and emotional) and happiness. At this point, I knew I wanted to help others do the same exact thing.

I continued to work with these dietitians throughout my undergraduate studies. We eventually uncovered that my chronic under-fueling and over-exercising led to a self-induced thyroid disorder and terrible gut health - to put it bluntly.

I started to learn about the importance and power of a healthy gut and healthy hormones (In other words, the importance of your body working how it should!). I discovered that healing these areas with proper nutrition and lifestyle habits drastically improved my mood and allowed me to achieve my fitness goals more efficiently.

These experiences taught me that eating for optimal gut & hormone function is
SO important.

But so is eating for happiness.

When you combine the two, you become the happiest, healthiest, and most fulfilled version of yourself.

  • I am an empath

  • I see beauty in grey areas and middle grounds. This is why I see so much potential in the combination of functional nutrition (learning HOW certain foods impact our health) and food freedom (feeling empowered to eat foods you enjoy).

  • I believe having fulfilling hobbies/friends/family is equally as important as good fitness and nutrition habits.

  • I have a French bulldog named Bugsy.

  • I have lived in Nebraska, Florida, and Colorado. This has allowed me to discover that I love the plains, beaches, and mountains equally!

  • My top 5 favorite foods: pasta, pizza, fish tacos, chicken tenders, sweet potatoes.

Lacey helped me heal my gut health with the appropriate probiotic for IBS and guided me through all my dietary issues. I am able to eat normally again and have gained weight back I so desperately needed. She is a very kind person and is easy to work with.
